Meet Ms. Amy

Amy Montuori

Dance Instructor
and Office Admin Team

From the ages of 717, Ms. Amy was trained in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, and lyrical dance. As a student, she helped found the first dance team at West Carteret High School where she also had the distinct honor of serving as their first team captain. During this time she led her dance team in dynamic high energy dance routines to songs like "Let's Get Loud" by Jennifer Lopez at football game halftime shows. As she grew as a dancer, she also expanded her dance background to include hip hop and belly dancing. An active member of community arts programs, she's been cast in various community performances, including Elf: The Musical with the Rivertowne Players in December 2022 where she danced alongside her daughter and fellow JDA dancer, Maeloni. Ms. Amy also participates in the JDA adult dance classes, performing at the annual JDA recital and competing in tap and jazz.

For the last 21 years, Ms. Amy has taught ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, tumbling, and acro at a variety of gymnastics and dance studios in Eastern North Carolina—but teaching at JDA has been her favorite! Ms. Amy currently teaches our Intro to Ballet and Intro to Tap classes, helps staff our front desk, and substitutes weekly classes as needed. In addition to being an active member of the JDA community, Ms. Amy also substitute teaches at local elementary schools and owns her own professional photography business. She lives in Newport with her husband, daughter, son, and two fur babies.
